My work consists of a combination of women figures, fabric and patterning to create a sense of empowerment. I am amazed by the beauty of different fabrics, colors and patterns and I use these fabrics to explore the concepts of women empowerment and celebration. Even though my figures are covered in fabrics, their body posture and face expressions communicate strength, dignity and independence. There are still many gender inequalities and prohibitions towards women and I use fabric, color and pattern to reinforce confidence and femininity in my figures. My paintings are mostly large scale so that I can have more freedom on the details and so they can be more visually interesting and powerful. The way I apply the thick brushstrokes and the balance of realism and impressionism works to reinforce my concept of showing women empowerment through rich color and patterns.
